Being an efficient Scout or RECON unit takes years of experience, and the process of learning can be hard because you never really know what skills may eventually come in handy, or maybe you'd rather not learn some lessons the hard way. So here are some tips from the Black Fox Corps that should help you along the way.
MOCCASINS VS. Combat Boots
If you're like Havok, you probably would prefer lightweight moccasins as oppose to heavy combat boots. However, as Havok found out the hard way, those lightweight moccasins are no match for a camouflaged cactus. And even a cactus needle with no venom causes more pain than a knife wound, which doesn't work well when you're trying to walk. So if you live in an area with cacti, you might want to rethink those light boots, or find a way to reinforce them.
Practice
It goes without saying that practice makes perfect. But sometimes, what and how you need to practice isn't always so clear. Simply put, EVERYTHING needs practice. From team tactics, to moving quietly, to critical thinking. The best way we here at the Black Fox Corps have found to practice, is to make a game out of it. Games require goals, and the use of skills to accomplish those goals. The goal provides a means of motivation to use your skills as quickly as possible, and the use of those skills in a win or lose situation simulates the reality of needing those skills to succeed. Not only does having the skill count, but your ability to use them is a requirement of winning the game. For instance, even though for every scientific reason possible Black Fox should be able to move faster than Havok, Havok with his knowledge and experience was able to reach the same goal through the same course as Black Fox faster. At least that's the only reason we can think of that a 230 pound person can beat a 150 pound person of somewhat better physique in a minor parkour race. Just make sure everyone is completely clear on the rules. Otherwise you'll end up with a manhunt game with one player thinking they can't use take downs, and another not knowing there was a point B for the other player to get to.
